Obituary for Karen Joyce Cody (Linsenbarth)

Karen Joyce Cody (Linsenbarth)
Karen Joyce Cody, age 72, of Canton, GA passed away Friday, July 01, 2016 at Deceased's Residence. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Mrs. Cody was a longtime resident of Long Island, NY. Her family moved from Queens to Long Island, settling in West Islip where Karen graduated from West Islip High School. There, she met and married her high school sweetheart, John J. Cody. Theirs is a fabulous love story that spanned 58 years.

Karen loved to sing, was a member of several choirs, volunteered in the community, was a Girl Scout Leader, and worked for Weight Watchers as a lecturer in Miller Place, New York where she lived with her husband, John and their three children for over 25 years. She later owned and operated a Wig Shop in the Tampa, Florida area and resided in River Country for 15 years. Karen and John settled in Canton, Georgia 8 years ago to be near their children and grandchildren.

Karen adored her family and devoted all of her time to her husband, children and grandchildren. For many years, she could be found attending all of her children's sporting events, concerts and other activities. She then did the same for her 7 grandchildren. They were the light of her life.

Known as "Joy" to her family, she touched the hearts of many bringing her positive energy, sweet disposition and loving spirit to all her relationships. She made an impact on many people's lives, offering hope, love and support to family, friends, classmates, co-workers and strangers that became friends. She brought Joy to all even when she was battling for survival, without complaint. She proved to be not only kind and sweet, but also strong, courageous and valiant. She leaves a legacy of love and JOY which will live on in all of those whom she touched.
