Obituary for Rev. Clenton Boling

On Monday, December 11, at the age of 84, Rev. Clenton Boling, of Canton, GA, went to be with his Lord and Savior. The third of eleven children, Clent was born August 10, 1933, to Dorothy Virginia (Purcell) and Malachi Reuben Boling. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Turner Boling; his children, Judy Marshall (Larry), Steve Boling (Melanie), Jim Boling
(Cassandra) and Mary Ann Gore (Rick); his siblings, Clyde Boling, Doris Treadwell, Phyllis Sparks, Marcus Boling, Gail Gravitt and Rachel Hunter; his twelve grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren (and three more on the way). He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janet, and siblings Wynell, Pete, Curtis, and Roger.

In his eighty-four years of life, Clent never met a stranger. His love of people shone clearly in all he did, whether as an insurance salesman, a chaplain, or a pastor. He pastored Ebenezer Baptist Church in Douglas County from 1965-1970 and Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta from 1970-1988 and in 1978 received a Chaplain of the Year award from Kennestone Hospital during his twenty year tenure. After retiring from the pastorate he continued to minister to his community as a chaplain at Sosebee Funeral Home and South Canton Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, on Thursday, December 14, 2017, from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Mulkey officiating. Interment will follow at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at South Canton Funeral Home, from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
