Our Story

After gaining 17 years of experience, Ricky Woodall envisioned a modernized funeral home that would serve the needs of Cherokee County with dignity, respect, and in the tradition of the community. He began planning in January 2000. He was joined by Phillip “Rowdy” Townsend and then Tommy Fowler near the end of the year. South Canton Funeral Home opened for business in February 2002. Mr. Woodall’s vision has now become a reality.

In 2010, long time Cherokee County residents Eric Mayo, Greg Hamilton, and original owner Ricky Woodall became the new owners. Eric and Greg are licensed Funeral Directors/Embalmers. Collectively, they bring 51 years of experience and dedication to the Funeral Service.

Our goal, when we meet with a family, is to create a fitting, memorable, and affordable service for their loved one. Together, we explore the wide variety of services and products that are available, and use creative ideas and suggestions to assist in creating a service that honors their loved one’s wishes. Through the dedication and care of a well trained staff, unparalleled service, beautiful facility, and an awareness of community needs; South Canton Funeral Home has become the choice for Cherokee County families.

We are here when you need us, and we are dedicated to the families we serve.
